I started my post secondary teaching career in January 2009 at Niagara College and in September 2010 at Brock University (part-time). Shortly after I won a competition for a full-time professorship in the Office Administration Department at Niagara College, I was named the Department's Coordinator. In July 2017 I transferred to Sales/Marketing/Entrepreneurship in the School of Business. In July 2019 I was named the Co-ordinator of the Business-General Program. Beyond interfacing with students, staff, my Chair, and our Advisory Committee, I am in charge of overseeing curriculum development and representing our department throughout the College and the community. Being a Co-ordinator of the Business-General and Office Administration programs have been challenging, rewarding assignments that demand my best effort every day.
Empowering students
The talent and initiative of our students is not only a source of pride for me but a source of inspiration as well. Empowering students to create and participate in community/business related projects is a great way for them to learn. Niagara Research is a department in our College that offers project based assistance to employers in our community. I have worked with NR to open the door for the Office Administration students to participate in projects where an Administrative professional's skills would come in handy.

Taking counsel from Advisory Counsel
Niagara College relies on community leaders to participate in Advisory Counsels for each faculty. Office Administration and Business-General each have a 10 person counsel. The counsel members were recruited from public sector, private sector and health related offices. Our Counsels guide and oversee the development of the curriculum for our programs. We are training and educating our students with their 'future' employers' expectations in mind.

Enhancing and updating the Department's curriculum
Each class or section of students in our program elects a representative to represent their opinions during a semester-end curriculum review meeting. The student rep, me and any interested professors discuss; course curriculum, textbooks used and assessments given. Some changes to our curriculum have been born from the outcomes of the surveys in which our students participated.

Working with our program's Saudi presence at King Faisal's Hospital
Niagara College has been involved with the delivery of the Office Administration General Certificate Program in Saudi Arabia since 2007. In Saudi, our program is part of a “Saudization” or “Nationalization” program designed to develop a skilled internal workforce at the King Faisal Hospital. In 2011, the Office Administration program was delivered at two King Faisal hospital locations, Riyadh and Jeddah. I have been assigned to be the Curriculum liaison with the professors in Saudi to ensure their program is a true reflection of the Niagara College diploma.

Working collaboratively with other Professors
A co-ordinator at Niagara College does not directly manage other professors. My role is to facilitate our collective activity ensuring that the best program of instruction possible is being delivered to our students. Collaboration, and if required, motivation and if possible, inspiration are my duties to the capable Office Administration staff.

Helping to establish the new Office Administration-Medical Program
In 2012 Niagara College launched a new program, Office Administration - Medical. A great deal of the approval work was done prior to my hiring however there has been considerable work done to create the specific curriculum details of the each new course. A meeting of medical office/hospital employers was held, February 27, 2012. Their employee requirements were discussed and then courses were created taking into consideration the government learning outcomes of the program and the employers' skill training requirements.
